CoffeeandConversation
Host: Didsbury Historical Society
Description: Volunteers with the Didsbury and District Historical Society are all about having fun and love to host events and activities throughout the year that help us honour our Vision, which is to celebrate our heritage through interactive adventure and learning experiences. Held the third Wednesday of the month, Coffee and Conversation is one of the most popular monthly events in Didsbury, as people gather at the museum to visit with each other, and to learn about the history of our town, and the individuals who have made our county so rich and beautiful. One of those individuals is Janette Oke. It was while living in Didsbury that Janette wrote her first book, Love Comes Softly. It was published in 1979 by Bethany House Publishers of Minneapolis. Janette has continued to publish with Bethany House throughout her writing career. Over the years some of her books have also been made into movie series and musical dramas, including the popular When Calls the Heart. A Janette Oke Writing Museum is included in the Paskapoo Museum in her home area of Rimbey, Alberta. Everyone is welcome to come, chat, enjoy a cup of coffee, and explore the Museum. This is a free event, but donations to the Museum are gratefully accepted, as they do help us "keep the lights on".
